Handsome single hole ink/gouache holder, hand-cut from solid chestnut. Chestnut is a valuable hardwood found in eastern United States and Europe, hard to find because of a blight that claimed most mature trees. Coloring is light to medium brown, with a straight or spiraled coarse, uneven texture. 
This piece holds a plastic screw-top holder, with a capacity of 0.7 (20ml), a perfect size for storing ink or gouache for larger projects. The container keeps the liquid from drying out for many months (included). It measures 2" x 1 1/4" and is coated with a clear gloss lacquer.
